Q&A

.) Josquin wrote a lot of music was he popular? Yes. Josquin was regarded as one of the greatest composers of his time.

.) What were some issues The Council of Trent opposed ? Issues the Council opposed early in their formation were somewhat small things (to them) like the manipulation of Credo in music to using non-liturgical songs in churches. Later on in their reform the use of organs, hiring of professional musicians, and eventually banishing polyphonic music were installed.

.) Would the composer (Josquin) be accepted by the Council of Trent? I Think that Josquin would be accepted by the Council of Trent, only if he used the polophony music of his earlier period of composing. If he were to use some of his later works then I would say maybe not because of he was such a Virtuoso (Latin word better described as a "Show Off"), and his use of Sattire. And later on in the Reforms of The council of trent his polophonic music would not have been accepted so Yes and No.

.) What is Reformation? Reformation or Counter-Reformation can best be described as a period of Catholic Revival beginning with the Council of Trent and ending at the close of the Thirty Years War (1648).
The Reformation dealt with: Political Issues, Religious Orders, Spiritual Movements, and Ecclesiastical or Structural Reconfiguration.

.) Would the council make the same conclusions today? I think that in todays society the council would not have as much authority as they did then. Nevertheless The Council would have some followers that would follow the teachings/rules/practices.

.) What composers were affected by The Council? Some well known composers affected by the Council of Trent were : Giovanni Palestrina, Stefano Landi, Emilio de Cavalieri, and a list of many other respected composers of the 16th century.

.) If I were a composer what argument would I make? The argument that I would make as a composer,  would be to let my music be played whether it be secualr or church music with or without the use of polyphonic devices, instruments, or whatever they opposed as long as it was appropriate in the church, because of the installment of the amendments and freedom of speech.

.) What music examples would I bring to The Council? I would bring in a lot of examples of polyphonic music to see what they would say. The examples are : Polyphonic Turkish Folk Music from Black Sea Region, and  Guillame de Machauts' -Puis qu'en Oubli.
